The Department for Child Protection is seeking a Senior Disability Consultant to join the Disability and Development unit.

The role is responsible for:

Providing advice and support to DCP staff in identifying children and young people with disabilities and developmental delays, and liaising with the National Disability Insurance Agency to address disability needs.

Contributing to policy development, service design, and evaluation to improve multidisciplinary therapeutic services within DCP.

Mentoring DCP staff professionally and delivering clinical supervision to students.

Maintaining accurate client records by documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes to uphold professional standards.

To be successful:

You'll bring a strong clinical understanding of the development and therapy needs of children and youth with disability. You'll have proven experience in planning and delivering individualised interventions that meet the complex needs of clients. Using your expertise, you'll guide and support other staff and students in disability therapeutic theory and practice.

Essential Qualifications

AHP: A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

PO: Appropriate degree qualification in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or related field.

Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
