Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Service that provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.
About the Opportunity
The purpose of the position is to manage the organisation’s compliance, quality and risk management systems to ensure conformance with legislative, accreditation and contractual requirements.
This position is specified, Applicants are required to provide an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander referee or a written reference from an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to the applicant’s background, knowledge and skills as they relate to the following capabilities:
About You
We are seeking applicants who have:
Demonstrated experience in a management role, leading, coaching and supervising a team.
Demonstrated significant experience implementing processes to meet accreditation against Standards relevant to the operations of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community-controlled health organisation.
Demonstrated experience identifying risk, developing and monitoring mitigation strategies.
Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and monitoring contract management frameworks and systems.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of strategic and operational risk management principles and processes.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation to organisation operations.
Demonstrated knowledge of accreditation standards as they apply to the community health sector.
Ability to analyse data, identify trends and develop solution to resolve identified issues.
Advanced interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to liaise and network with a range of stakeholders.
Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York, and
Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs.
Demonstrated understanding of the principles of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community control.
Must be willing and have the ability to travel in Cape York either by light aircraft or 4WD as required.
Mandatory requirements
Qualifications in Business Management, Law or Quality Management OR a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar role.
Current Queensland Drivers Licence
Current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement
Current AFP National Police Clearance or willing to obtain
