Senior Community Development Officer

The Salary range is currently $49.28 to $51.51 per hour. Hourly rate based on experience.
Providing safe, affordable housing to eligible Queenslanders — including families, individuals, couples, and seniors — across more than 1,100 homes. With over 2,000 tenants, we offer stability, security, and opportunity when it's needed most.

About this role
This role is responsible for leading community initiatives across Southeast Queensland, focusing on fostering inclusive and connected communities. The position involves developing and delivering tenant engagement programs, coordinating community events, and building strategic partnerships to enhance support services. A key part of the role is empowering individuals and ensuring community-led initiatives are effective, sustainable, and aligned with best practices to drive lasting social impact.

- Build and maintain partnerships to expand support and service access.
- Design and evaluate initiatives that create sustainable community impact.
What you can bring to the team
You’re a natural connector who thrives on building relationships and working collaboratively. With a deep understanding of community development principles, you approach challenges with a strength-based mindset and a trauma-informed perspective. You’re comfortable using technology to enhance your work and can confidently develop, evaluate, and refine programs to ensure they meet community needs. Most importantly, you’re passionate about creating opportunities for people to thrive.
- Experience in community development, social services, or a related field.
- Passion for empowerment, trauma-informed care, and strength-based approaches.
- Confident with Microsoft Office and open to learning new software.
- Skilled at building relationships and working collaboratively.
- Experienced in program development, evaluation, and reporting.
Essential requirements
- Degree qualification or equivalent demonstrated experience in community development, community/human services or related discipline.
- Demonstrable competence in hosting meetings, events and community forums for a range of stakeholders, including clients and community members.
- Current driver’s licence and the willingness to work in a range of locations.
- Five years’ experience in a community development role or transferable field.
- Experience hosting online forums, or the ability to learn online hosting skills.
Desirable but not essential
- Understanding of Trauma Informed Practices and motivational interviewing techniques.
- Current bus drivers’ licence.
- Experience in the social housing sector.
- Demonstrated experience in working with volunteers.
Possess or the ability to acquire
- Possess a current National Police Certificate
- Possess Working with Children (Blue Card)
