About us and the Role
Murwillumbah Community Centre (MCC) is a vital hub for engagement and support and aims to enhance the well-being, resilience and cohesion of our community. We offer a wide range of programs and services including Indigenous family support and cultural programs, food security, homelessness support, youth programs and financial counselling. We are centrally located in beautiful Knox Park Murwillumbah in a purpose- built community service hub where we are co-located with other community services.
We are seeking a permanent part time Administration worker/Receptionist who will be the first point of contact for our busy Community Centre – the “face of our service”. The role is for 22 hours per week over 4 days and is classified at SCHADS Level 3. The role could be suitable for someone with caring responsibilities or as a job share.
We are looking for someone who has a caring nature, excellent customer service and administrative skills, and who is able to work with people from all backgrounds and circumstances including those in crisis. Please note that some community members have occasionally challenging behaviors and/or poor mental health.
Role Summary
The purpose of this role is to ensure:
People are welcomed to the Centre and directed to the internal and external services they need
Meeting rooms and offices are accessible and available for hire
Office supplies, processes and equipment are maintained
Reception volunteers are supported and trained
Information is accurate and up to date
Essential Criteria
Strong IT and administration skills
At least 2 years' experience in a comparable role.
The ability to manage time and stress and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively
Cultural Competency
Ability to pass a National Criminal History Records check and get a Working with Children card
Current Driver's License
Desirable qualities
Qualifications in Business Administration and/or Community Services
Social Media proficiency
Graphic Design skills
Knowledge of local services and organisations
