About the role

Zappala Diesel Service and Repairs is seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team in Cairns, Queensland on a full-time basis. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of a diverse fleet of heavy vehicles, ensuring they are well-serviced and operating at optimal efficiency.

What you'll be doing

• Performing routine maintenance and servicing on a range of heavy vehicles including trucks, buses, and earthmoving equipment
• Carrying out detailed inspections, diagnostics, and repairs to identify and resolve mechanical issues
• Maintaining accurate records of work completed and parts used
• Prioritising and scheduling maintenance work to minimise vehicle downtime
• Collaborating with the wider team to ensure the timely completion of all tasks
• Adhering to all workplace health and safety policies and procedures

What we're looking for

• Formal qualifications in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics or a related Automotive Trades discipline
• Minimum of 3-5 years' hands-on experience as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, preferably in a commercial or industrial setting
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills to efficiently identify and rectify mechanical faults
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
• Sound knowledge of relevant industry regulations and safety standards
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
