The Sydney Harbour Federation Trust (the Harbour Trust) is an Australian Government agency that protects and manages some of the most historically significant foreshore sites on Sydney Harbour including Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour, Woolwich Dock and Parklands in Woolwich, Sub Base Platypus in North Sydney, Georges Heights, Middle Head and Chowder Bay in Mosman, North Head Sanctuary in Manly, Marine Biological Station in Watsons Bay and Macquarie Lightstation in Vaucluse.

About the Role

The Project Manager will develop and manage the delivery of the Cockatoo Island Slipway and Kayak swimming area project. This will require careful project planning, relationship management and resource negotiation to support the strategic and operational objectives of the Harbour Trust and Cockatoo Island Master Plan.

The role is responsible for establishing the project governance structures as required to include reporting to steering committees (Project Control Group) and internal working groups to ensure co-ordination across all teams in the Harbour Trust.

Role Accountabilities

Develop and manage the Cockatoo Island Slipway and Kayak swimming areas to deliver the Harbour Trust’s objectives and negotiate contracts and coordinate the work performed by externally sourced providers, to ensure that services are provided in accordance with agreed quality standards, budget and timeframes

Manage and oversee all aspects of project implementation, including preparing project plans & briefs, scopes of work, identifying and coordinating resources, tendering, developing and managing budgets within available funding, and negotiating and delivering reporting requirements.

Provide high level strategic advice and support to the executive team on the development, implementation, management and reporting of projects, and ensure executive staff are fully briefed on the status of projects.

Develop and maintain a range of collaborative networks across the Harbour Trust to support the delivery of projects and provide feedback on the implementation process and provide expertise in assisting with events and tenancy requirements such as audits, conditional assessments and procurement.

Prepare and deliver a range of strategic and operational documents as required, including briefing papers, discussion papers, reports, submissions and responses to information requests and lead the development of project management methodologies and processes across the Harbour Trust.

Manage the risk and health and safety requirements of the projects in line with legislation and the Harbour Trust’s WH&S procedures and standards.

The role will work closely with the Harbour Trust’s Program Manager for all reporting requirements.

Selection Criteria

Demonstrated experience and expertise in directing works programs, from planning through to design and successful delivery, and contract management, including applying standards, legislation and Commonwealth policy to the projects such as buildings, contract administration, heritage works, safety and procurement.

Proven ability to manage resources, both human and financial across multiple projects with experience in preparing budgets and managing expenditure.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate with clients and contractors, to report, provide briefings and to interpret contracts and specifications.

Demonstrated ability to prioritise, time manage and manage project workload with competing priorities and demands.

Knowledge and working experience in managing risk and health and safety of all involved in the project/s.

Current Driver Licence.

Satisfy a Police Check.

Hold Australian citizenship or residency or appropriate visa.

Desirable

Understanding and appreciation of heritage issues.

Salary and Benefits

$138,936 to $162,781 per annum, plus superannuation.
