About the opportunity
We’re looking for a proactive and passionate WHS Project Officer to help drive the delivery of our strategic Work Health Safety and Injury Management Plan 2024–2028. Working closely with the Organisational Development Manager and WHS Coordinator, you’ll support compliance, risk management, and safety initiatives that make a difference across our organisation.
This role is key to embedding safe work practices across Council. You’ll lead and support WHS projects, engage stakeholders, and ensure our safety systems meet high standards, directly contributing to a safer, healthier workplace for all.
You’ll also:
Support WHS programs and ensure legislative compliance.
Assist with hazard, incident, workplace emergency and WHS contractor management, including the development and review of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
Help develop and implement WHS policies, WHS inductions, training, and wellbeing initiatives.
Provide expert advice in the field of WHS.

To be successful in this role we’re after someone who is:
Qualified with a Certificate IV in WHS (or equivalent experience).
Experienced in WHS within self-insured or similar environments.
Tech-savvy, with strong skills in Microsoft Office and ideally Skytrust, ELMO and Chemalert.
A great communicator, with high emotional intelligence and a collaborative mindset.
Organised and adaptable, able to manage priorities and drive results.

This role is based at Kapunda, about 25 minutes from Gawler, and will report directly to the Organisational Development Manager with technical guidance from the WHS Coordinator.
