- Exciting opportunity to lead the Planning and Building Services teams within the City of Wanneroo
- Total Remuneration Package from $204,700 to $244,000 per annum, including vehicle
- Full time, maximum term contract for 5 years
About the Role
The role is an important member of the senior leadership team, reporting to the Director of Planning and Sustainability. You will be involved in exciting opportunities and challenges associated with planning for new communities in the cities coastal growth corridor that will deliver an ultimate population of over 250,000. This will include the Strategic Metropolitan Centre at Yanchep, Secondary Centre at Alkimos with new station precincts, future urbanisation of East Wanneroo, 1000 hectares industrial area at Neerabup as well as managing expectations of an existing population of over 215,000 residents. You will also:
- Provide effective leadership to the City’s Planning and Building teams, creating a positive and productive culture of engagement and accountability.
- Provide expert advice to leaders and Council regarding complex and high profile statutory planning and building applications whilst identifying impacts on the City’s objectives.
- Implement effective policies and plans for the Service Unit to achieve the outcomes sought by the City.
- Manage the successful delivery of strategic projects to achieve the City’s commitments.
This highly rewarding position will see you working on exciting projects with a fantastic and supportive team. You will receive an attractive remuneration package of up to $244,000 per annum over a 5 year contract. This will include a fully maintained company provided vehicle for private and professional use (or equivalent value as negotiated with the successful applicant), onsite car parking and additional co-contributions to superannuation. More importantly, you will be given the chance to shape the Service Unit and its operations in alignment to the future vision and to enrich a progressive culture focussed on top performance.
About You
You will be passionate about the planning and development of cities, and will have:
- A university degree in a relevant discipline such as Urban and Regional Planning.
- Significant experience in senior leadership roles within large and complex organisations, with the ability to motivate teams to deliver excellent customer service.
- Advanced communication skills with demonstrated ability to provide strategic advice to leaders and Council on statutory planning and building matters.
- Effective resource management capability including developing business strategy, workforce planning and financial planning and management.
- Demonstrated capability in effective stakeholder management with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders to deliver organisational objectives.
- Proven experience in managing the successful implementation of strategic projects on time and to budget
