As part of this exciting journey, we are currently seeking 2 casual Events & Public Activities Crew to join our team and contribute to delivering vibrant, engaging public activations and events across the City.
At Council, we prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. We are committed to implementing child safe practices to create an environment where children feel safe and included. We screen candidates to ensure their suitability to work with children, this includes conducting National Police Checks, Working with Children Checks, and through reference checks. About the role
This position is responsible for providing operational support across a range of Council events and activations, ensuring safe and efficient event delivery and a high-quality experience for the public.
You will:
- Oversee the delivery of public events, functions, exhibitions, and activities of all sizes.
- Assist with marketing, material distribution, and business engagement.
- Provide on-site support to contractors, artists, suppliers, and agencies.
- Use basic hand and power tools to install, maintain, or remove infrastructure.
- Anticipate issues, problem-solve, and collaborate effectively.
- Work independently across various venues, with minimal supervision.
- Maintain professional relationships with businesses, authorities, and agencies.
- Deliver high-quality customer service and act as a City and Council ambassador.
- Engage directly with the public through rides, workshops, and activities.
- Monitor and safeguard equipment, infrastructure, and supplies.
- Offer feedback and ideas to improve event programming and strategy.
- Follow instructions to ensure events are well-managed and meet standards.
- Uphold WHS obligations and ensure safety for all on-site.
- Comply with EEO, cultural diversity, and Council policies.
- Act ethically, honestly, and fairly to enhance customer service and operations.
About You
The successful candidate should have previous experience in events, hospitality, customer service, or a related area, preferably in an outdoor, public-facing environment.
You will also bring:
Experience
- Working in a dynamic, high-paced environment with public interaction.
- Working in physically demanding roles, such as lifting, moving, or installing equipment.
Qualification
- Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain.
- Current Driver's Licence (desirable).
- Event or safety-related certifications (desirable).
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing environments and schedules.
- Understanding of safety procedures and risk awareness in public spaces.

We are offering an attractive hourly rate from $35.00 plus 25% casual loading.
