Position Title Social Support Activities Officer
Responsible to Service Manager
Accountable to Management Committee
Award SCHADS Award Level 3, Pay Point 1
Hours 20 hours per week Monday to Friday
Vision Statement
Ballina Shire Meals on Wheels aims to provide appropriate meal delivery, other food services, and social support to those most in need in the community.
Purpose of Position
The Social Support Activities Officer will plan, implement and manage project deliverables and reporting requirements under the project funding agreement. This role will work with the Service Manager to assist in managing the day-to-day operations of a Meals on Wheels service effectively & efficiently, ensuring that all services & supports are delivered in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the organization.
Working under the direction of the Service Manager. You must have experience in organising, developing and sourcing all avenues of social activities for older people and people with disabilities. This role requires you to have Digital Identification to access government sites for client intake along with good administration, excellent computer, office & typing skills, sound written & verbal communication skills and the ability to work autonomously & as part of a team.
Working knowledge of CHSP, Home Care Providers and NDIS would be beneficial in this role.
SCHEDULE OF DUTIES
General:
· Develop Social Support activities in line with the project work plan and schedule
· Progressively monitor work plan implementation to ensure project deliverables are met in a timely fashion within budget
· Laise and assist with volunteers to set up and take down after each activity session
· Regularly attend and review social activities.
· Regularly meet with the Service Manager to review progress and develop and discuss future steps, including new projects
· Report on project progress and any issues that may arise
· Deal with general enquires and assist the day to day running of the service along with all Meals on Wheels Staff.
· Be a point of contact for volunteers, clients and other people accessing the service.
· Work with Assistant Manager to develop training and events for all volunteers.
· Receive client referrals for social support (phone, My Aged Care, taking initial Referral, entering into Ballina Meals on Wheels client recording system.
· Ensure that appropriate client files are kept and documentation is up to date;
· Record and receipt any money collected from social activities daily.
· Undertake clerical and general support tasks as directed by the Service Manager.
· Undertake data collection, collation and entry into a computerised data management system as required by the Service Manager.
· Maintain database on relevant resources.
· Communicate respectfully with all individuals including service users, representatives, staff, volunteers and the community
· Contribute to continuous improvement by involvement in staff meetings, planning days, and feedback mechanisms
· Participate in education and training opportunities
· Follow WH&S requirements and guidelines and Service policies to ensure a safe working environment.
· Develop and implement organisational structures and systems to enable BSMOW to operate effectively along with the Service Manager.
· Other duties as directed by the Service Manager.
Selection Criteria
· Tertiary qualified or similar and/or demonstrated experience in a related field working with older people and people with a disability.
· Experience with developing and organisating group activities and events.
· Computer literate including MS Office Suite and administrative skills
· Ability to communicate effectively with clients, staff, volunteers, contractors and visitors,
· A high standard of written and verbal communication skills
· Good organisational and time management skills
· Reliable and high standard of teamwork
· A motor vehicle drivers licence and own vehicle
Desirable Criteria
· Demonstrated understanding of the Commonwealth Home Support Program guidelines and philosophies or experience in this area
· Working in a Non-government organization
· Experience with Client Management Systems
