About the Role
As our trade and commercial offering evolves, this role is an exciting chance to grow with us and help strengthen a key part of the business.
As our Business Development Manager, you’ll lead trade sales and nurture high-value relationships with designers, stylists, builders and architects. Reporting to the Head of Retail Operations, you’ll work closely with our retail, customer care and marketing team to deliver strong sales results and seamless customer experiences.
This is the ideal role for a proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment and is ready to take ownership of a key growth channel.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sales & Relationship Management
• Drive trade sales and exceed monthly targets
• Build and manage relationships with architects, interior designers, stylists, and builders
• Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities
• Represent Fenton & Fenton at client meetings, trade events and industry functions
Operational Excellence
• Oversee the full sales cycle – from enquiry to delivery – working with logistics and warehousing
• Manage pre-orders, custom requests and sales order processing
• Ensure a high-quality customer experience at every touchpoint
• Collaborate with the ecommerce team to support and enhance the Trade Portal
Reporting & Insights
• Track sales performance and identify growth opportunities
• Deliver weekly trade reports and insights to the Head of Retail Operations
Marketing & Business Development
• Assist in delivering the trade business plan, including marketing campaigns and events
• Keep trade materials, samples and documentation current and effective
• Champion new initiatives that improve service and drive growth
Day-to-Day Activities
• Act as the key contact for all trade enquiries across platforms
• Prepare and follow up on quotes
• Onboard and nurture new trade customers
• Manage inboxes, Monday.com, ERM and the Trade Portal
• Report weekly on trade sign-ups, sales performance, and key opportunities
Your skills, experience and attitude
You will offer a mix of sales experience, relationship management, initiative and a can-do attitude. To be successful we expect:
• 3-5years in business development or trade sales (ideally in furniture, interiors or design)
• Proven sales success and commercial acumen
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
• Confident, proactive approach to selling
• Excellent presentation, communication, and organisational skills
• Very proficient in Gmail, Excel, CRM systems, and Monday.com
• A genuine interest in design, interiors and creating beautiful spaces
