About the Roles:
Flinders University's College of Business, Government and Law (CBGL) is seeking academics for multiple positions, ranging from Senior Lecturers through to Professors. These positions will be filled by people with proven educational and research leadership capabilities and expertise (appropriate for the level). In particular, the positions are intended to amply educational, research and industry engagement around the business of advanced manufacturing through Flinders Factory of the Future (FFF), including the Flinders node of the Additive Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre (AMCRC).
Relevant disciplines and fields of expertise include:
- Economics: energy, labour, trade, regional, behavioural economics
- Finance: Investment, public finance, behavioural finance
- Decision Making: Business data analytics, AI, behavioural psychology, human factors
- Management: Leadership, organisational psychology, project management, supply chain management
- Strategy: Entrepreneurship and innovation, business models, dynamic capabilities, strategic R&D management, strategic marketing
- Public Policy: Innovation districts, industry policy, economic complexity, university-industry collaboration
The appointments are balanced (teaching/research) positions, but candidates may also be considered for research only positions (based upon outstanding research performance) and clinical practitioner or teaching specialist positions (based upon deep industry experience and networks).
These appointments will provide leadership in research, education and industry engagement: driving growth in research income and capability, lifting reputation, student experience, and student load, and making FFF an authentic showcase for industry engagement.
This position is open to international candidates and relocation and visa support is available.
About the College of Business, Government and Law
The College of Business, Government and Law comprises approximately 120 academics (continuing and fixed term) staff, supported by approximately 50 professional staff. There are approximately 3500 students associated with the College of which roughly 90 are higher degree research students, and 1000 are studying Flinders business and international relations programs in Tianjin China, in partnership with Nankai University.
In 2024 the College reported over $13M in research income, with significant multi-year investment associated with the building and operations of the Flinders Factory of the Future (FFF).
Organisationally the College comprises four teaching programs and three Research Centres, with FFF managed jointly with the College of Science and Engineering. Staff are located across three campuses; the main, bush campus at Bedford Park, a new purpose-built vertical campus in the heart of the city, and the Factory of the Future within the bustling innovation district at Tonsley.
About Flinders Factory of the Future:
The Flinders University Factory of the Future (FFF), located in the Tonsley Innovation District, is a world-class, reconfigurable advanced manufacturing test bed, training and industry growth facility - the first of its kind in Australia. It enables businesses to test, trial, and refine new processes and products in partnership with Flinders' multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, business, and human factors experts. Currently operating at Line Zero in the Main Assembly Building (MAB) of the former Mitsubishi car plant, the FFF is expanding to new facilities set to open in August 2025. Supported by both federal and state governments, and in collaboration with corporates and SMEs, it is a significant part of Australia's push toward a more innovative, competitive, and sustainable manufacturing sector. It is also home to the Flinders node of the Additive Manufacturing CRC.
