The Zahra Foundation supports women and non-binary folk affected by domestic and family violence through programs and financial counselling services. By facilitating pathways into further education, training, and employment we empower our participants to break the cycle of abuse.
We are one of the leading non-government, not-for-profit services in Australia providing trauma-informed specialist financial counselling and programs for people recovering from domestic violence. Our tailored programs and financial counselling promote economic empowerment and support women and non-binary folk on the journey to recovery after domestic and family violence.

Salary and Conditions:
HOURS: This is a permanent part-time position of 22.8 hours per week.
SALARY: Level 4 SCHADS Award ($43.08 /hr)
+ Generous salary sacrifice packaging arrangements (up to $15,900 tax-free plus meals and entertainment package of up to $2,650).
The position is a work-from-home role and will facilitate group programs at Jenny's Place in Newcastle as well as Empower Program in conjunction with MTC SEE program in Newcastle.
Key Responsibilities:
The Program Facilitator will:
Provide high-quality supportive programs designed to empower the economic independence of women recovering from domestic violence.
Conduct intake and assessments, including reviews of referrals in, identifying strengths, vulnerabilities and needs to determine appropriate supports and referrals-out that will best meet the service user’s needs
Provide information, advice and referral and targeted psycho-social support that is individualised and integrated with other services and support systems
Promoting programs to external agencies and build relationships with other service providers.
Ensure all Zahra Foundation policies, procedures and systems are abided by and upheld.
Undertake case coordination as required, including providing facilitated referrals out, advocating on behalf of service users, and building capacity of the service user to manage their own supports
Maintain knowledge of services, supports, schemes and systems to ensure the most relevant information and referral can be provided for service users
Maintain case records and service reports including data collection and evaluation
Participate in regular supervision and relevant skill development

To be successful the candidate will have:
Essential Requirements:
Possession of an open driver’s license
Possession of a ‘Working with Children’ Suitability card and a National Police Screening Check.
Certificate IV qualification or higher in the field of social and community services, counselling or psychology.
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or TAE Skills Set in Facilitation and willingness to work towards Certificate IV in TAE
Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated experience in working with vulnerable community members, including knowledge of key social issues and impacts
Demonstrated experience and skill in client engagement and undertaking needs assessments
Demonstrated experience and skill in coordinating and delivering groups for women / or people with vulnerabilities, including information, referral, advocacy and psycho-social support
Qualification or skills set in Adult Education
Training and experience in working with adults with vulnerabilities
Demonstrated computer literacy skills and ability to navigate on-line systems for service users as well as client databases and data collection
Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team environment as well as independently
