Are you passionate about aquaculture and the science behind developing new species for fish production? Do you have experience in hatchery aquaculture and data collection?
We are looking for a Research Scientist to support a project aimed at developing aquaculture production methods for early life stages of black jewfish in the Northern Territory. This role involves technical and scientific contribution to trials, reporting to the Principal Investigator.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct scientific trials: Collect data through technical trial operation including sampling and measurement of water and aquatic animals.
Reporting: Prepare samples for analysis, collate data, and report findings contributing to both scientific papers and internal reports.
Project involvement: Participate in designing research projects, analysing data, and collaborating with stakeholders to communicate findings.
Fish care and maintenance: Oversee the care and maintenance of fish and live feeds during trial and non-trial periods.
This role requires weekend and after-hours work, as needed
To be successful you will have completed a degree qualification in science or aquaculture with sound knowledge of methods for the collection and analysis of data, technical experience in hatchery aquaculture and competency in database and statistical software.
