About the role:
An exciting opportunity exists for a full time experienced and enthusiastic Accessibility Consultant to join the team.
To be successful in this position, you should be passionate about providing an inclusive and equitable built environment.
You must be committed to providing a high level of quality service to our clients and be capable of setting your own goals and working proactively while working alongside a dynamic group of professionals in a positive and energetic environment.
You should be familiar with all relevant legislation related to accessibility. Your role will involve a broad range of consulting services, including assessment of projects at all design stages, providing compliance advice and developing alternative solutions, and assessing construction projects.
Duties will include:
Reviewing design documentation.
Preparation of written reports;
Analyse and interpret legislation;
Developing practical design alternatives that satisfy legislative requirements;
Communicating requirements with clients;
Self-management of clients and projects;
Input and advice on access design documentation (drawings);
Undertaking onsite access inspections.
Skills & Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
Demonstrated experience in various classes of buildings in the private and or public sector.
Relevant academic qualifications, including either having associate member level with the Association of Consultants in Access or being able to apply.
Completion of Cert IV in Access Consulting is highly desirable.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Great attention to detail.
Good working knowledge of the BCA and all relevant access related Australian Standards, Disability (Access to Premises - Buildings) Standard 2010, AS 4299, DDA.
Able to work cohesively within a team environment.
Hold a Drivers Licence.
As an Access Consultant you will be an integral part of the AED team and be required to work autonomously and as a team player. Your ability to prioritise your workload, be pro-active and organised will see you excel while working independently and in a team.
