This position is based in Darwin but may require travel within the Northern Territory as required.

Part Time 25 hours per week on a permanent basis.

A six-month probationary period applies to this position.

Salary

$65,149 – $79,097 per annum FTE, pro rata for 25 hours per week (approx. $42,000 – $51,000) + super + leave loading
Based on SCHADS Award Level 2–3, dependent on qualifications and experience.

Flexible work arrangements will be considered in line with business operational requirements.

6 weeks annual leave and paid leave over the Christmas shutdown period.

Salary Packaging - get up to $15,900 of your salary tax free to pay for items such as Rent, Mortgage, Credit Cards, Utilities, School Tuition and more.

In addition to your tax-free benefit, you can also use up to $2,650 of your pre-tax income to pay for entertainment expenses (meals, venue hire, holiday accommodation etc.)

Foster and Kinship Carers Association NT (FKCANT) is a not-for-profit, independent community based incorporated body that empowers fosters and kinship carers through knowledge, support and advocacy.

As the peak body for all foster and kinship carers in the Northern Territory, the core business of FKCANT is to represent and advocate for the best interests of foster and kinship carers, both current and potential, ensuring policy and practice implemented by The Department Of Children and Families is appropriate and fair and equitable for all foster and kinship carers, their families and the children in their care.

Working as a lead support service provider, FKCANT is funded by The Department of Children and Families to provide, carer recruitment, assessments, training, support, advocacy and case management services to foster and kinship carers, playing a pivotal role in assisting carers navigating often complex and challenging situations.

Position Summary

As the Business Support Officer, you will use your skills to provide high quality first point of contact reception to internal and external stakeholders. You will manage the front desk reception area, support the Carer Support Services team with administration duties, answering phone calls and direct traffic to appropriate team members.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Screen incoming calls and assess client's needs to take appropriate action and manage enquiries effectively.

Professionally manage visitors in a courteous, efficient, and friendly manner.

Assist with planning for meetings and events including preparing agendas, minutes, the setup of Board and IT rooms, organising catering, and audio-visual requirements.

Engage in recruitment activities for new foster and kinship carers.

Provide high level administrative support to the Case Management and Support team, including written correspondence and email distribution.

Ensure data entry and management of data is accurate and recorded in a timely manner in the provided Client Record Management System (database).

Delivering multiple business support activities and services in line with agreed standards, timeframes and milestones, given tight timeframes and the need to maintain confidentiality, accuracy and attention to detail.

Assist with communications, including newsletters and social media posts. Create and schedule social media content that supports engagement and awareness.

Other duties consistent with the position where required and/or requested by management from time to time.

Experience – Skills and Knowledge

Excellent interpersonal skills such as rapport building, negotiation and problem solving and ability to develop and maintain strong, working relationships with key stakeholders, including carers, government, non-government and the corporate sector

Well-developed communication verbal and written skills, with a demonstrated capacity to deliver high quality written documentation with attention to detail and consideration of confidentiality and privacy requirements

Proficient IT skills, including experience in client record management systems/databases and demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Demonstrated understanding of the challenges and experiences of people from diverse backgrounds including culturally and linguistically diverse, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders

Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines

Ability to work independently whilst proactively contributing to a positive and supportive work culture

Ability to work flexibly including occasionally outside of regular business hours and to be willing to meet the needs of the service.

Qualifications

Relevant qualifications and/or previous background in Administration roles. Experience in a relevant area of community, health or human services sector is an advantage.

NT drivers’ licence

The recommended applicant will be required to hold a current Working with Children Clearance notice and undergo a criminal history check (a criminal history will not exclude an applicant from this position unless it is a relevant criminal history).

Desirable

Experience in child protection and the Out of Home Care sector.

Capable of effectively managing crisis situations with confidence.
