About the Role
The Practice Development Nurse - Specialist is responsible for supporting the professional development of all permanent and program staff across our clinical settings. Their primary role is to ensure best practice by providing ongoing education and support for all staff with particular focus on the advancement of knowledge, skills and training with relevance to the clinical setting. This will be achieved by implementing clinically based education using the principles of Evidenced Based Practice to improve the delivery of nursing care. Furthermore, they will be responsible for their own professional development in order to maintain expert clinical skills and advanced knowledge.
- Facilitate the development of nursing staff through targeted education programs and clinical support, including graduate, postgraduate, and transition to specialty practice pathways.
- Work closely with NUMs, E&L Coordinators, Managers, educators, preceptors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure a consistent, high-quality learning experience across allocated clinical area.
- Assist in the development of education resources, policy updates, and best-practice initiative; integrating feedback, research, and digital tools to enhance program outcomes.
- Promote reflective practice, maintain clinical competence, and model the values of SVHM-compassion, integrity, justice, and excellence.
Classifications for this position will range from RN35 ($122,907.20 per annum).
Your Contribution
Essential Requirements:
- Current Nursing Registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA.
- Degree in General Nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery board of Australia.
- Postgraduate Qualifications in relevant nursing speciality, preferably a Masters in Advanced Nursing (or working towards).
- Postgraduate qualification in Education, Clinical Supervision or similar (or working towards)
- Minimum 5 years nursing experience.
- Experience in clinical teaching, clinical supervision, or implementation and facilitation of educational programs.
- High-level learning and development facilitation experience and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet set timelines.
- Competent computer skills including; PowerPoint, excel, word.
About Education & Learning Department
St Vincent's provides extensive Education and Learning (E&L) support and services to staff and students across the health service. The educational team members are based across multiple campuses including Fitzroy, St George's Hospital Kew, St Vincent's on the Park East Melbourne, Caritas Christi Hospice Kew and Port Phillip Prison. This position will primarily be based at St Vincent's campus in Fitzroy with the expectation of travel to other campuses and health services as required.
