Are you an experienced financial leader with a passion for driving strategic impact in a complex, mission-driven organisation? We're looking for a dynamic and highly capable individual to take on a dual leadership role as Executive General Manager - VCGS Finance and Head of Financial Accounting within the Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI) group.
About the Role
This is a rare and influential opportunity that combines financial strategy and operational leadership. In this dual hands on role, you will:
- Lead financial operations for the Victorian Clinical Genetics Services (VCGS), supporting the VCGS CEO, Executive team, and Board to ensure sound financial performance and long-term sustainability.
- Partner with the MCRI Group CFO and broader finance team to support financial compliance, reporting, and best-practice financial management across the MCRI Group.
- Provide clear, insightful financial leadership and contribute to both business and functional strategy, with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
You will be a key advisor, playing a pivotal role in aligning financial goals with broader organisational objectives, ensuring integrity, accuracy, and excellence in all financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the financial management, budget planning and reporting for VCGS
- Provide strategic and operational finance support to VCGS Executive and Board
- Lead a small team in delivering group-level financial accounting and compliance
- Work closely with the Group CFO and broader finance leadership team to drive excellence in financial systems and reporting
- Balance high-level strategic thinking with strong attention to operational detail
Selection Criteria
You are a strategic and commercially minded finance professional with:
- Proven experience in senior financial leadership roles, ideally within healthcare, research, or complex service-based environments
- Strong technical expertise in financial accounting, compliance, and reporting
- Demonstrated ability to influence and contribute to executive operational and strategic planning processes
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
- A CPA or CA qualification
