About the Opportunity
KAMS now has an opportunity for a Kimberley Foot Initiative Health Promotion Officer to join their friendly, multidisciplinary team in Broome, WA, on a full-time fixed basis (6months). You will work with primary health care staff, specialist services and the wider health service workforce to contribute to the developement, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of preventative Diabetic foot health resources, activities and events. The position will be based in Broome but will involve regular travel throughout the Kimberley region.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Consult with communities and member services to understand individual needs in their community.
- Participate in team planning delivery requirements e.g. timetables, session plans and resources.
- Promotes, develops and maintains effective liaison with Aboriginal community members, internal and external service providers and specialist services.
- Deliver a range of a range of health promotion initiatives in Diabetic foot health and capacity building programs to community members and staff across KAMS members services and clinics.
- Deliver programs in a culturally appropriate manner.
- Participate in program evaluation processes (continuous improvement).
- Ensure all reporting is collected, submitted and meets the KPI requirements of relevant funding agreements.
- Promotes, develops and maintains effective liaison with Aboriginal community members, internal and external service providers and specialist services.
Due to the nature of this role, a current mannual driver's licence with he capacity to drive a 4WD and travel by a small aircraft is required.
Previous experience working with Aboriginal people and or Aboriginal organisations will be highly regarded.
This position is full time fixed term (6 months only.)
Please note: It is a requirement that successful candidates be willing to undergo a National Police Check prior to employment with KAMS.

- District allowance $2,920 p.a.;
- Electricity Allowance $1,440 p.a pro rata;

- 5 weeks leave (pro rata)

About Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services
KAMSC (Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Council) is a regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS), providing a collective voice for a network of member ACCHS from towns and remote communities across the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
The Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) was the first Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) established in the Kimberley in 1978, and was followed by the East Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Service (EKAMS, in Kununurra) in 1984. The vision for a unified voice, to provide centralised resources and collective advocacy for the sector, achieved reality in 1986 with the establishment of KAMSC.
