A bit about the role…

Looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of Australian Defence Force personnel transitioning to civilian life? BUSY is searching for a General Manager to lead and shape the future of it ADF Transition Support Services contract. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to drive strategic initiatives, enhance service delivery, and empower veterans with the tools they need to succeed beyond the ADF. In this strategic role, you'll shape service delivery, drive innovation, and work with the ADF to ensure contract excellence across Australia. Reporting to the Executive General Manager of BUSY At Work, you'll oversee the National Manager and program teams, championing exceptional outcomes for ADF members.

You’ll be responsible for strategic planning, operational performance, stakeholder engagement, and business development. This includes representing BUSY at national forums, overseeing compliance and risk frameworks, and identifying emerging trends in Defence and veteran support. Your ability to build trusted relationships with Defence and Government stakeholders will be critical to your success.

With a focus on high performance, cultural leadership, and continuous improvement, you’ll lead a mission-driven team committed to making a real difference.

This is a permanent full time role based in South-East Queensland at either our Southport or Brisbane office.

About you…

• Tertiary qualification in Business, Management, Human Services or related discipline (postgraduate desirable).
• Minimum 5+ years in a senior management or executive leadership role, preferably in a senior Defence capacity.
• Australian Citizen with ability to obtain Baseline Security Clearance
• Deep understanding of the Defence and Veteran Affairs landscape, government contracting, and transition support frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically, influence policy, and drive operational excellence.
• High-level financial acumen, contract management, and analytical capability.
• Experience in large-scale program delivery across diverse geographic locations.
• Ability to conduct extensive national travel is required
• Ability to obtain a National Police Check with no disclosable outcomes and Blue Card.
