About the Role

We’re Molonglo Legal – a boutique corporate and commercial law firm based in Canberra – and we’re on the lookout for a Senior Lawyer with 2–5 years of post-qualification experience to join our close-knit, dynamic team.

For the right candidate, this full-time role offers the chance to make a real impact – not only by delivering high-quality legal services to our wide range of corporate and commercial clients, but also by playing a part in shaping the future direction of our growing firm.

The role will start as maternity leave cover and for the right person will evolve into a permanent position.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you’ll be:

Advising clients on a huge variety of business legal issues, with corporate and contract law at the core of a generalist offering which includes intellectual property, employment law, commercial leasing and dispute management

Providing thoughtful, practical legal opinions on complex issues

Working closely with our small, collaborative team to ensure outstanding client service

Identifying new opportunities to improve and grow our services

Supporting and mentoring junior lawyers as they develop their skills

What We’re Looking For

We’re after someone with the following characteristics:

2–5 years of post-qualification experience

Technical expertise in one or more of corporate, commercial, intellectual property, litigation and dispute management

Top-notch communication skills – written and verbal – and a knack for making complex legal ideas easy to understand

Excellent research, drafting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities

A client-focused, collaborative & commercial mindset

Industry expertise in renewables, tech or video games a positive but not essential

A commitment to continuous learning
