Senior Lawyer – Legal Policy – NV1 – $1040 to $1330 daily rate including super – Initial 6 month secondment with possible extension – Part-time - Canberra location

The Role

We currently have a secondment opportunity within a high profile Commonwealth Department based in Canberra that is seeking a Senior Lawyer with significant experience in legal policy and/or in a regulatory role as well as senior management experience in a Commonwealth setting.

The Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to work as a secondee within the Commonwealth clients’ in-house legal team. High level stakeholder engagement skills are required as the successful candidate will be required to provide advice and assistance to a wide range of client areas.

The successful candidate will support the team’s regulatory work including:

assist manage workflows;

address current backlogs by triaging and processing notifications;

completing reviews and assessments;

documenting and implementing processes; and

preparing and/or clearing guidance and training material.

The Requirements

A current practising certificate (or ability to obtain one) and a current (minimum) NV1 security clearance experience is essential.

Legal qualifications and experience in regulation, administrative decision making or legal policy is required.
