Ginling Chinese Restaurant is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing authentic Chinese cuisine to the highest standard, managing kitchen operations, and maintaining food safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook a wide range of traditional and modern Chinese dishes, including stir-fries, dumplings, noodles, soups, and specialty regional items.

Design and develop seasonal menus and daily specials that reflect authentic Chinese culinary traditions while appealing to customer preferences.

Oversee and coordinate all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, portioning, and plating.

Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure every dish meets the restaurant’s high standards for taste, consistency, and appearance.

Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards in accordance with local health regulations.

Plan and manage kitchen workflow to maximize efficiency, especially during peak service periods.

Monitor inventory levels, minimize food wastage, and place timely orders for ingredients and kitchen supplies.

Train, supervise, and mentor junior kitchen staff to ensure they understand recipes, cooking methods, safety protocols, and presentation standards.

Develop and implement standard operating procedures for food preparation and storage.

Collaborate with restaurant management to improve menu offerings and contribute to business growth through customer satisfaction.

Participate in periodic kitchen audits and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications Required:

Minimum 1 years of full-time experience working as a Chef, preferably in a Chinese cuisine setting.

Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) is required.

Proficiency in Chinese cooking techniques such as wok cooking, steaming, braising, roasting, and knife work.

Strong understanding of flavour profiles and ingredient use in various Chinese regional cuisines.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Excellent organisational, communication, and team leadership skills.

High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality food consistently.

Proficiency in both Mandarin and English is preferred, to facilitate effective communication in a bilingual kitchen environment.

Food Safety Supervisor certification is preferred.
