About the role
Reporting to the Senior Media and Policy Advisor, this role is responsible for developing and delivering high-quality communications and social media content that supports key Mayoral initiatives, and announcements. You will manage content across multiple platforms, coordinate public messaging, and contribute to a cohesive and strategic communications approach.
In this role, you will contribute significantly to the review and assessment of community engagement strategies and plans, working closely with the City’s Community Engagement Team to ensure they are effective and aligned with community needs.

About you
You are an experienced communications and community engagement professional with a strong background in digital communications - ideally within a government, parliamentary, or ministerial environment. You excel at creating clear, compelling content across diverse formats, from social media and public reports to speeches and correspondence.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
Demonstrated experience in community engagement, or a related field and or experience in social media management, communications, preferably in government (departmental, parliamentary or ministerial).
Demonstrated experience in supporting or delivering community engagement initiatives, including reviewing engagement plans and reporting outcomes.
A strong track record of delivering successful social media campaigns and impactful communications.
In-depth knowledge of social media platforms, analytics tools, and communication best practices.
Familiarity with AI tools and platforms to enhance content creation, social media management, Mayoral correspondence, public reporting, and campaign optimisation.
IAP2 certification or relevant training in stakeholder and community engagement.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead initiatives and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
A creative, solution-focused mindset with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information for a broad audience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant digital tools, with the ability to support others in their use.
A high level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity, with a strong commitment to confidentiality.
A collaborative and respectful working style, with a dedication to excellence and ethical conduct.
