Cairns Veterinary Clinic is a locally owned 100% small animal practice group with two clinics that takes pride in offering a quality, caring service to pet owners and their pets.

We are searching for a friendly, welcoming and a professional individual with outstanding communication skills to work alongside our team of receptionists, nurses and vets.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Welcoming clients and their pets to the clinic and handling client enquiries

Answering the phone and responding to emails in a friendly and professional manner

Booking in patients for appointments and surgery, managing cancellations and rescheduling appointments

Processing payments

Cleaning and maintaining the reception area and merchandise shelves.

Answering a broad range of client questions and working in accordance with our policies and procedures.

Maintaining efficient records

Managing and sending out reminders

Dispensing medications as directed by our veterinarians

Completing a variety of general administrative duties

Following through communications with clients and veterinarians

Qualifications & experience

Proven work experience as a receptionist is essential, ideally in a health care or veterinary role.

Must be able to work with, and speak to a wide range of people, without prejudice.

Professional attitude and appearance,

Solid written and verbal communication skills,

Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise,

Excellent organizational skills and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks

Knowledge of animal care would be desired but is not essential

The position is full time and will include working early mornings, evenings, weekends and some public holidays.
