About the Role:

As a Finance Officer, you’ll be responsible for supporting a wide range of financial activities across accounts, payroll, banking, and reporting functions. You’ll play a key role in maintaining compliance, supporting budgeting processes, and delivering accurate financial data to support informed decision-making across the organisation.

Responsibilities

Financial Operations:

• Process accounts payable and receivable transactions and reconciliations
• Manage payroll functions, including processing, deductions, and reporting
• Undertake bank reconciliations and manage day-to-day banking requirements
• Support budget preparation, forecasting and financial tracking
• Prepare and maintain financial reports, statements, and ad-hoc reporting
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger
• Perform regular reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy

Compliance and Financial Support:

• Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and relevant legislation
• Assist with audits and preparation of tax obligations, including BAS and EOFY
• Provide timely and accurate financial advice and support to internal stakeholders

Administrative and Collaborative Duties:

• Enter and maintain accurate financial data and records
• Handle financial transactions, including travel claims and credit card processing
• Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery
• Respond to finance-related inquiries with professionalism and clarity

Your Profile

• Demonstrated experience in a similar finance role within local government or the public sector
• Sound knowledge of relevant financial systems, legislation, and practices
• Proficiency in financial software
• Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills
• High level of integrity and a collaborative approach to problem solving
• Certificate IV in Accounting or relevant qualification (highly regarded)
• Must have local government experience to qualify for this role
