About the role

We’re on the hunt for a passionate and experienced head barista supervisor to join the team at Johnny’s Coffee Roasters in Elwood. This full-time role is perfect for someone who lives and breathes specialty coffee and wants to take the lead in maintaining and elevating our coffee standards.

As Head Barista, you’ll work closely with the Manager to oversee daily operations, set the tone for service, and lead by example behind the machine. If you’ve got a sharp palate, strong leadership skills, and a genuine love for hospitality, we’d love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

Leading the barista team and ensuring consistently high-quality coffee

Dialling in and maintaining coffee equipment daily

Training, mentoring, and motivating junior baristas

Managing workflow and maintaining efficiency during busy periods

Collaborating with the manager on menu ideas, coffee offerings, and service improvements

Ensuring a clean, organised, and welcoming coffee station

Providing excellent customer service and fostering a warm, friendly atmosphere

What we’re looking for

2+ years’ experience in a senior barista or similar role

Deep knowledge of espresso and filter brewing methods

Comfortable managing a team and running a fast-paced service

Confident in dialing in, calibration, and minor machine maintenance

Friendly, approachable, and passionate about creating memorable customer experiences

A love of great coffee and a drive to keep learning and growing
