QCEC is the peak body for Catholic education in Queensland and is the entity recognised by governments for the purpose of funding.

In 2025, QCEC will commence the transition to an incorporated company limited by guarantee under the Corporations Act, governed by an independent board, and will be known as Catholic Education Queensland.
