Robert Half is currently recruiting an experienced Finance Officer to work within an Aged Care department of a Regional Council

The Council provides a range of services to the region including infrastructure, governance and community services.

They are seeking to appoint a passionate and professional Finance Officer to undertake a broad range of duties within the Finance team. There has been some backlog with the reporting, so this is a critical role primarily responsible for a variety of financial tasks. These are crucial to the success of the business and include delivering timely and accurate financial reports, reconciliations and streamlining their processes going forward

This is a fully remote, temporary to permanent role as they need someone immediately to support during a busy start to the year. If you are immediately available, have long-term working rights and are ready to join a motivated and finance team… then this role is for you!

The Role

You will work closely with the Finance Manager and wider finance team to carry out the following responsibilities.

Some typical duties will involve:
- Support the month-end and year-end close process.
- Review and reconcile overdue financial reports.
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations.
- Understanding complex Aged Care funding
- Ensuring compliance with accounting principles and standards.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws (including GST) and internal policies.
- Managing tight deadlines independently with exceptional attention to detail.
- Post journal entries (accruals, prepayments, adjustments).

Your Profile

To be successful you will have proven experience in a high-volume accounting environment with a minimum of 3 years' experience in Accounts. Aged Care experience is also essential.

The following attributes will also be highly advantageous:

- Tertiary qualifications in Accountancy and Finance
- Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint & Word skills
- Excellent communication skills - Approachable and helpful manner (essential)
- The ability to draft accurate and concise financial reports
- Self motivated and the ability to manage workload and deadlines
- Experience with MYOB and Aged Care systems
