Leading Australian infrastructure company requires a passionate and proactive Security Engineer to join its Digital Services team, on a contract basis.

About the Role:

Within this role, you’ll play a key role in building and maturing Security Operations capabilities, working alongside cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain secure systems and practices that align with industry standards and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Security baselines for End-User Compute environments (networking, software delivery, EDR).
• Cloud security uplift initiatives across AWS and Azure.
• Implementation of secure administration and user onboarding processes.
• CDN and WAF configuration (e.g., Akamai).

• Contribute to the design and delivery of end-to-end security solutions, including:
• Align solutions and controls to ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and Essential Eight (E8) maturity models.
• Investigate and resolve issues identified through CNAPP tools such as Orca Security.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation including runbooks, security procedures, and standards.

You will have experience across;

• Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure
• Security Infrastructure: Fortinet, Zscaler
• Email & Identity Management: Microsoft 365 stack (Entra, Intune, Exchange), Mimecast
• Web Security: Akamai CDN and WAF
• Security Operations Tools: AssetNote, CrowdStrike, Orca Security, SUMO Logic

You will have:

• Solid understanding of networking protocols and web technologies (DNS, TCP/IP, web application architecture).
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using tools like PowerShell or Python.
• Experience building or working with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Terraform.
• A collaborative mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and modern DevSecOps practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a detail-oriented approach to documentation.
