About the Role:
We're seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic STEM Outreach Officer to join our team. You'll be the driving force behind our engaging STEM programs and events, with a special focus on our School Day Tours STEM program. Imagine guiding students through the cosmos, sparking their curiosity about astronomy, and fostering a lifelong passion for STEM!
Your role will be multifaceted and rewarding:
Create Cosmic Adventures: Design and deliver captivating astronomy-focused learning experiences that make science accessible and exciting for all ages.
Coordinate Stellar Programs: Manage and enhance our School Day Tours STEM program, ensuring seamless execution and unforgettable experiences.
Engage the Universe: Collaborate with volunteers, educators, and external organizations to expand our outreach and impact.
Evaluate and Innovate: Design and analyze educational activities to continuously improve our STEM initiatives.
Be a Science Ambassador: Share your passion for astronomy and inspire a love for learning within our community.
Skills and Experience We're Looking For:
Essential: A valid Working with Children Check, applicants must live within driving distance of Perth Observatory in Bickley.
STEM Expertise: Proven experience in STEM education, program development, or event management.
People Power: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including children and young adults, in science outreach and STEM projects.
Cosmic Knowledge: A solid understanding of astronomy and related scientific principles, with the ability to communicate these concepts in an accessible and engaging way. Knowledge of emerging trends in space science is highly desirable.
Team Player & Independent Star: Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, volunteers, and external stakeholders, while also managing individual tasks efficiently.
Tech Savvy: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Community Spirit: A genuine passion for volunteering and community engagement.
