Our client is well-known nationally for their high-quality products in the mining and construction industry, specialising in custom design and fabrication of products along with equipment hire.

We’re currently seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team. As the Estimator, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end estimating and quoting process for manufacturing jobs, ensuring accurate costings, timely quote delivery, and smooth transition into production. This role bridges commercial understanding with technical insight and plays a critical part in planning, forecasting, and supporting operational decision-making. Working closely with production, engineering, procurement, and sales, the Production Estimator ensures all estimates reflect current capabilities, material costs, and labour requirements, while supporting the integrity and flow of production schedules.

The role:

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for manufacturing jobs based on customer requirements, drawings, specifications, and internal capability.
• Generate timely and competitive quotations, ensuring alignment with pricing strategies, capacity, and business goals.
• Liaise with sales, engineering and production teams to understand job scope, complexity, and material/labour needs.
• Collaborate with sales, procurement, and production planning to verify material costs, lead times, subcontractor pricing, and in-house capability.
• Lead initiatives to streamline and standardise the estimating and quoting process.
• Maintain a database of historical estimates, material pricing, and job performance data to support continuous improvement.
• Ensure smooth handover of approved quotes to production and planning teams, including detailed BOMs, job routing, and labour assumptions.
• Monitor win/loss ratios and contribute insights to improve future quote success and accuracy.
• Support the Production Manager in performance reporting, incident response, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What we're looking for:

• Trade qualification or relevant experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Industrial Design.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in estimating, quoting, or production planning roles in manufacturing.
• Strong numerical and commercial acumen with attention to detail.
• Clear understanding of machining, fabrication, assembly, and workshop operations.
• High proficiency with ERP systems, spreadsheets, and estimating tools.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with technical & commercial teams
• Proficient with computers (Microsoft Suite and ability to learn new systems eg Sage)
• Strong safety focus
• Highly organised
