The Role

Defence Digital Group (DDG) is building a team of Program and Project Cost Estimators to support successful delivery of Digital Capability. Our successful candidates will lead the development of Program and Project Cost Estimates using a range of cost estimation techniques and sources of data to provide Project Managers and Capability Managers with robust cost estimates from Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) through to Tender Quality (TQ) costs, inclusive of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) metrics. In addition to developing Program and Project Cost Estimates, you will also support the development and growth of the new DDG Cost Estimation capability through the development of a DDG Cost Estimation Framework. You will be supported by a chapter of other Cost Estimation professionals, including an SME Cost Estimation Chapter Lead to whom you will report.

Your chapter will provide you with professional development and peer support to ensure your continual growth in the Cost Estimation career and of your general APS skills.

PrMO Chapter Resources will work alongside other project resources to deliver capability within the Military and Enterprise Systems Divisions. They will also spend some time supporting the growth and continuous improvement of their chapter and its enabling tools, templates and processes.

The DDG Cost Estimation Chapter is a new team, established as a result of our recent transformation program; candidates who are motivated to stand up new business units and positively engage with navigating change will thrive in this role.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Proven track record of leading costing activities for business cases and large projects in complex organisations.
  • Be familiar with relevant costing and finance systems or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to manage finances for large programs and/or projects.
  • Ability to drive outcomes and execute on complex delivery initiatives.
  • Advanced communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and initiatives, work, influence senior leaders, and be approachable.
  • Ability to be adaptive to suit the task at hand and achieve positive outcomes.
  • A desire to lead change and adopt new ways of working.
