Multiple Government Contracting Roles – Project, Program, and Service Design (APS5–EL1)
Location: Canberra, ACT (Flexible/hybrid arrangements may be considered)
Security Clearance: Baseline (must hold or be able to obtain)
Contract Term: Initial 12 months, with up to 2 x 12-month extension options
Start Date: Anticipated from July 2025
Rates: Competitive daily/hourly rates aligned to APS classification levels
We are seeking experienced and driven professionals to join a significant national program through a large federal agency. Positions are available across three key capability areas—Project Delivery, Program Management, and Service/Strategic Design—at APS5, APS6, and EL1 levels.
These roles will contribute to the design, delivery, and optimisation of services for Australians, with a strong focus on performance, user experience, and continuous improvement.
Project Delivery Roles
- APS5 Project Officer: Support project management functions, scheduling, reporting, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
- APS6 Senior Project Officer: Manage smaller projects, guide teams, contribute to strategic planning and reporting, and provide specialist advice.
- EL1 Project Manager: Lead end-to-end delivery of large or complex projects, manage governance, performance, and change initiatives.
Program Management Roles
- APS5 Program Officer: Deliver program support, monitor KPIs, produce reports and business documents, and provide procedural guidance.
- APS6 Senior Program Officer: Lead small teams, engage stakeholders, contribute to strategic program planning and policy development.
- EL1 Assistant Director – Program: Lead multiple programs or initiatives, manage teams, build partnerships, provide strategic advice, and optimise outcomes.
Service and Strategic Design Roles
- APS5 Service Designer: Assist in research, prototyping, and journey mapping to support user-centred service delivery.
- APS6 Senior Service Designer: Design and lead co-creation workshops, conduct usability testing, and drive service improvement outcomes.
- EL1 Assistant Director – Service Design: Lead cross-functional teams, manage design delivery, influence policy-to-delivery service improvements, and advocate for human-centred design.
What You’ll Need:
- Strong capability in your relevant discipline (project, program or design)
- A background in public sector or large complex environments is highly desirable
- Familiarity with government frameworks such as PMBOK, Agile, SFIA, or Human-Centred Design principles
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced delivery environments
- Baseline security clearance or the ability to obtain one within 3 months
