Project Material Pty Ltd
Posted 2 days ago
Location: Brisbane-based, with regular interstate and international travel
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive base + performance bonuses + benefits
Project Material Pty Ltd is not your average environmental or infrastructure company. We are redefining erosion control through the integration of innovative technologies, patented deployment systems, and proprietary product lines such as our Rock Bag Filter Units. Our solutions are field-tested in some of the world’s most challenging and remote conditions, from Pacific Island nations to major dam and reservoir assets across Australia. Our work is bold, and often a world-first.
As a fast-growing company with a small, driven team, we are seeking a Project Manager to help shape the future of our operations and drive delivery excellence. This is not a conventional project role – it is an opportunity to embed yourself at the centre of a business creating real change and leaving a physical legacy across the globe.
The Role
We’re seeking an experienced and adaptive Project Manager with a demonstrated ability to lead complex, bespoke and often greenfield projects from design through to installation. The ideal candidate will bring both strategic foresight and practical expertise – someone who thrives under pressure, has seen a few battles, and knows how to shape a project environment where both delivery and safety are paramount.
Key responsibilities include:
Planning and executing national and international supply-and-install contracts for Rock Bag Filter Units and associated technologies.
Managing all phases of project lifecycle: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure
Ensuring compliance with all relevant workplace safety, environmental, industrial relations, and local regulatory requirements
Developing site-specific SWMS, JSEAs, and installation methodologies tailored to each unique deployment.
Working closely with internal teams including design, logistics, procurement, and commercial to align delivery with client requirements
Managing subcontractors and site personnel in remote and logistically challenging locations
Conducting on-site inspections, risk assessments, and overseeing installation using our proprietary Autonomous Release Hook and sonar systems
Representing Project Material with professionalism in stakeholder meetings, site inspections, and client briefings
Reporting to executive management on project status, budgets, variations, and opportunities
About You
You are a seasoned Project Manager, Site Engineer, or Construction Leader who has delivered high-stakes projects in sectors such as infrastructure, marine, environmental services, or remote-area construction.
You’re comfortable in a high-autonomy environment and enjoy taking a lead role in pioneering work.
You have excellent interpersonal skills, know how to motivate a crew, and bring teams with you.
You can manage multiple projects at once and are highly organised.
You are willing to travel extensively and spend time on-site, including overseas where required.
You’re excited about being part of something small, smart, and growing – and you see the chance to leave a legacy.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, or a related field
Minimum 10 years’ industry experience, ideally with experience in both construction and environmental infrastructure
Proven track record delivering remote, regional, or international projects under tight logistical constraints.
Current White Card (mandatory), and other relevant industry tickets highly regarded.
Experience developing SWMS, environmental controls, and safety documentation to regulatory standards.
Strong commercial awareness and contract administration capabilities
Experience working with geotextile or erosion control systems highly desirable.
Knowledge of Australian and international regulatory frameworks (esp. NSW SOPA, WHS, EPA etc.)
What We Offer
A unique opportunity to help shape an emerging global player in erosion control innovation.
High autonomy and a clear pathway for advancement, including team building and leadership roles.
Competitive salary with performance-based bonus structure
Work with groundbreaking technology including sonar-based installation and patented hook systems.
Travel opportunities across Australia and internationally.
The satisfaction of delivering solutions where no standard product fits
