Bamaga Enterprises Limited (BEL) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations and Project Manager to lead our diverse business units, oversee project and maintenance delivery, and drive strategic and operational excellence across the organisation.

About the Role
The Operations and Project Manager is responsible for coordinating the day to day operations of BEL’s business units and ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of services. This role supports high-quality standards, profitability, and staff performance across the organisation.
Working closely with the Executive Officer, the Operations and Project Manager provides leadership, innovation, and strategic guidance to our management team and build/maintenance crews. The role is hands on and community-facing, ensuring BEL’s values are upheld while maintaining compliance, governance, and operational consistency across all business areas.
This position is pivotal in driving continuous improvement, ensuring the long-term sustainability of our enterprise, and actively contributing to the development and well being of the Bamaga and NPA community.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations and support managers across all BEL business units.
Provide leadership, mentoring, and support to a high-performing team.
Ensure compliance with governance, corporate, and community expectations.
Coordinate and program maintenance operations and upskill the build team.
Manage supplier relationships and procurement efficiency.
Develop and improve policies, systems, and procedures across departments.
Engage with community stakeholders, representing BEL professionally and ethically.
Drive continual improvement, innovation, and sustainable business growth.
Key Requirements
Proven experience in operational leadership within an Indigenous organisation or related business environment.
Knowledge of at least one industry BEL operates in (e.g., retail, tourism, construction, hospitality).
Strong community and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
Skilled in preparing professional proposals and reports.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience in managing maintenance programs and procurement processes.
Strong planning, organisation, and computer literacy.
A proactive and systematic approach to operations and business development.
Strong time management skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
High levels of energy, accountability, and attention to detail.
