STAR is a not-for-profit organisation providing aged care and disability support services, including Home Care Packages and NDIS, since 1996. We help the elderly and people with disabilities live independently, engage with their communities, and achieve their goals. Supported by local volunteers, we offer affordable services such as transport, in-home help, social activities, and companionship. We advocate for inclusive communities, focusing on reducing social isolation through programs and events. Our services currently cover Redlands, Ipswich, Logan, Gold Coast, and Darling Downs.

Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of seniors? Do you want to help create meaningful social connections and improve the wellbeing of your community? STAR Community Services is seeking a dedicated Community Programs Officer to oversee the Lockyer Valley Seniors Social Isolation Service.

About the Role:

As a Community Programs Officer, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, client-centered social and recreational events for the senior community, ensuring safety, quality, and accessibility. You will manage service delivery, lead projects, and create lasting partnerships with local organisations. Your efforts will directly contribute to fostering a positive and empowering environment for seniors in the Lockyer Valley region.

Key Responsibilities:

Client-Centered Service Delivery: Provide flexible and responsive services that respect clients' needs, choices, and preferences.

Service Delivery Management: Oversee the Lockyer Valley Seniors Social Isolation Service, ensuring it aligns with the Service Agreement and organisational policies. Continuously monitor and improve the service.

Event Planning and Facilitation: Design and deliver a variety of engaging activities and events, including social gatherings, workshops, and recreational programs, to promote community connection.

Community Engagement and Partnerships: Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, including healthcare providers, councils, and businesses, to enhance service offerings and foster community involvement.

Volunteer Engagement and Support: Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to engage and support volunteers in delivering successful activities.

Communication and Administration: Contribute to newsletters, handle administrative duties, and maintain client-focused service delivery.

Professionalism and Documentation: Conduct services professionally, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure resource care and management.

Data Collection and Reporting: Collect relevant data and evidence for service performance, ensuring accurate documentation for reporting purposes to the manager and funding body. This includes tracking service outcomes, client feedback, and program effectiveness to support funding applications and maintain accountability.

Problem Identification and Communication: Identify issues early and communicate them promptly to ensure timely resolution.

A passion for working with seniors and creating positive, social experiences.

Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Experience in event planning, community engagement, or social services is highly desirable.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
