Local Laws Officer – Animal Management
Permanent Full Time
Band 5: $78,456.56 to $90,192.96 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation
Location: Morwell, Victoria
The Role
As Local Laws Officer - Animal Management you will work within the community to promote a greater understanding of and compliance with State animal management laws, codes of practice and Council's Local Law.
You will work within the Animal Management team responding to customer requests around all things domestic animal. This can range from assisting with the day to day running of the Latrobe City Pound to conducting investigations into breaches of relevant legislation.
You will need:
- Have or be willing to obtain Certificate IV Civic Compliance, or Certificate IV Animal Control and Regulation.
- Experience in legislative enforcement or transferable skills that can be adapted to an enforcement role
- The ability to communicate effectively and confidentially, both verbally and in writing.
- The ability to correctly interpret and enforce relevant legislation and policies.
- The ability to understand court proceedings and give evidence regarding a prosecution for offences in the Magistrates Court and at VCAT.
- The ability to participate in a rotating roster for after hours on call responses
- A current Drivers Licence
Successful applicants will also be required to undergo a Police Check and Working with Children Check.
