Shape financial control, uplift governance, and deliver trusted financial leadership within a major public sector agency.
This is a high-impact functional leadership opportunity for a technically orientated finance professional ready to take ownership of financial control across a complex and high-profile NSW Government entity.
You’ll work closely with executive leadership and external stakeholders to modernise internal controls, enhance financial integrity, and ensure full compliance with AASB and Treasury reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the transformation of financial control and internal governance
- Deliver accurate, timely reporting across all internal and external stakeholders
- Be the trusted escalation point for risk, audit and compliance matters
- Engage at a strategic level across Treasury, Audit Office, and government departments
- Shape a high-performance, collaborative finance culture
- Develop and implement robust internal control frameworks
- Oversee statutory and management reporting in line with AASB and Treasury frameworks
- Lead audit processes and ensure delivery of recommendations
- Act as escalation point for urgent or sensitive financial issues
- Identify and mitigate financial risks through policy and control design
- Drive uplift across reporting, planning, compliance, and financial integrity
You will own the design and delivery of internal financial frameworks, statutory reporting, audit coordination and financial risk management. You’ll also provide critical input into organisation-wide strategy and help embed best practice across finance.
Candidate profile:
You will be highly capable from a technical accounting perspective and looking to continue with this as you chosen career path. In addition, you will have strong experience (either within Public Practice or directly) within public sector or regulated environments. You will have a demonstrable understanding of the demands of government reporting frameworks and are confident managing senior stakeholders and external partners.
- CA/CPA qualification and deep experience in financial control
- Strong technical understanding of AASB, NSW Treasury policy and statutory compliance
- Experience within a Big 4 Accounting firm is highly regarded
- Demonstrated success in embedding financial governance and leading audit
- Strategic thinking, collaborative mindset, and an ability to lead through influence
- Experience improving team performance, processes and reporting quality
