MechTest provides custom load testing, mechanical testing, metallurgical testing, chemical analysis, weld and welder qualification, and failure investigation services to various engineering sectors.

We're looking for a full-time Mechanical Testing Technician to join our team at our Archerfield workshop.

Prerequisites:

Year 12 high school certificate or similar

Current driver’s license (manual preferred)

Workshop experience

Experience in a science or engineering environment is a bonus

Duties:

Key responsibilities will primarily involve working in a workshop environment with occasional local site visits:

Assisting with construction of mechanical or load test setups under instruction

Running mechanical or load tests to written procedures

Fabrication and sample preparation using general workshop equipment; hand tools, power tools, band-saw, welder, lathe etc

Occasional travel to local sites to perform anchor point load testing

Forklift license is an advantage but not essential

Basic welding or CNC experience is advantageous, but not essential

No previous testing experience is expected—full training provided

About you:

Demonstrated experience in a materials testing laboratory or general workshop environment will be highly regarded

Can follow instructions and work independently

A positive and proactive attitude to get things done

Team player with good written and verbal communication skills

A mechanical mind-set with strong ability to solve practical problems

Can stay organised and prioritise tasks

Able to understand and interpret drawings and specifications

Comfortable with Word and Excel

Hold full Australian work rights

You will be working alongside our experienced team of technicians and engineers; gaining practical experience in the workshop and mechanical testing laboratory. All job specific training will be provided, you just need a willingness to learn.
