SFM is an independent natural asset management and carbon project development company, providing future-focused solutions for forestry and land management across Australia. With offices in Hobart, New Norfolk, Launceston and Mount Gambier, we deliver best-practice land and forest management across Australia. We are currently seeking an experienced and highly capable Business Administration Manager to join our senior team and support the smooth, strategic operation of our growing business.
About the Role
As the Business Administration Manager, you will play a key leadership role in ensuring the financial, administrative, and HR functions of the company operate efficiently and align with our broader business goals. This is a dynamic, hands-on position with responsibility for a diverse portfolio — including finance, human resources, corporate compliance, and operational support.
You will report directly to the Managing Director and work closely with SFM’s executive and operational teams across Tasmania and interstate.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all core business administration systems and support structures.
Oversee financial functions including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, expense claims, and financial reporting.
Prepare and lodge BAS, income tax and payroll tax documents in line with regulatory requirements.
Lead HR administration, including maintaining accurate employee records, developing training plans, and facilitating performance appraisal systems.
Ensure adherence to company policies and contribute to ongoing policy development.
Provide executive-level administrative support including event coordination, travel bookings, and general office management.
Coordinate with other senior managers to identify and implement strategies for improving business productivity and profitability.
Maintain confidentiality, compliance and a high standard of professional conduct at all times.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum 5 years’ experience in business administration management, ideally within a multi-state service environment.
Solid understanding of Australian taxation and employment law.
Proficient in accounting software and financial systems (experience in private enterprise preferred).
Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities.
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
High level of computer literacy, especially in MS Office and SharePoint.
Relevant tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Accounting and Bookkeeping (or similar).
Additional training in real estate, valuation or legal processes will be well regarded.
Why Join SFM?
At SFM, you’ll join a purpose-driven team committed to making a positive environmental impact. We offer a supportive and professional workplace culture, opportunities for development, and the chance to contribute meaningfully to the future sustainability of Australian forestry.
