We are funded by the Federal Government under the Industry Growth Centre model and our work spans clean-tech manufacturing including: solar, wind, carbon, industrial decarbonisation, First Nations, transport, transmission and distribution.
We also have a very specific focus on the battery sector in regard to training, skills and workforce development, which is why this role is so important.
THE ROLE

The Battery Safety Lead will design and deliver battery training and education initiatives to ensure that Australia’s battery industry and its consumers are safe, and remains at the cutting edge of an exciting, complex and rapidly changing industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop and deliver workshops on safe battery handling, standards, and regulations for industry and key stakeholders.
· Conduct training for manufacturers on safe production, transport, and handling of lithium-ion batteries.
· Organise and contribute to training on emerging battery technologies for industry stakeholders; safe handling practices and response strategies for battery-related incidents for First Responders, transport operators, and waste/recycling entities; and cyber security for EV and Battery Energy Storage System owners.
· Collaborate with regulators and industry to promote battery safety risk management best practices and compliance.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
· Degree qualified in science, engineering, energy systems, risk management, safety, or a related discipline.
· 5+ years of demonstrated experience in workforce training, risk management, or industry engagement in the battery, energy or transport sectors.
· Strong understanding of battery safety, hazardous materials handling and regulatory frameworks applicable to lithium-ion battery use and disposal.
· Proven ability to develop and deliver technical training workshops and stakeholder seminars.
· Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience working with priority groups.

· A salary of $130,000 plus statutory superannuation.

· Some interstate travel will be required.
· Fixed term contract of 2.5 years.
