Here at Wesbeam we are proud family-owned WA manufacturer of specialised wood products taken from the raw tree to finished product for the building industry at our state-of-the-art processing mill in Neerabup, Wanneroo. We only use West Australian sustainable timber from a renewable source. There is no waste as all biproducts are converted so the whole tree is utilised. We send the finished products to all Australian States where we operate out of our own distribution sites.

We have a workforce of 270 comprising of 140 production staff, 30 office staff in various departments and up to 100 staff across Australia. We are seeking a dynamic WHSE Officer to join our Safety and Environment team in a full-time permanent hands-on role, based at our Neerabup head office alongside our state-of-the-art 24/7 manufacturing plant.

The WHSE Officer will provide safety leadership and ensure compliance with current legislation and company policies.

Ideally you will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience, however if you are a recently qualified with a positive attitude and a desire to learn, we will provide the training and support to shape your career, full-time and part-time options available.

What you will do:

Develop and maintain an awareness of WHSE hazards and associated risks and demonstrate a commitment to work in a team to eliminate or minimise those risks.

Participate in incident/hazard investigation and timely close out of agreed corrective actions.

Participate and encourage continuous improvement in way of risk assessments, investigations and collaboration.

Maintain effective record keeping and document control procedures.

Implement lean principles.

Support, coordinate, implement and promote WHSE practices, procedures, and systems.

Identify, plan, and deliver WHSE training requirements.

Communicating with all staff with safety moments, HSE updates and keep a regular HSE presence.

Periodic travel to our distribution centres on the East Coast of Australia

Assist with injury management and transfer to appointments using your own personal vehicle.

Selection Criteria:

2 years’ experience in a similar role

Experience working in a Manufacturing/Production environment.

Minimum certificate IV in Work Health and Safety

Cert IV in Training and Assessor highly desirable.

Up to date first aid certification desirable

Excellent written and verbal communication at all levels internally and externally.

Excellent attention to detail.

Knowledge of incident management and reporting involving multiple internal and external parties.

Innovative and creative approach to solving problems.

Experienced in a WHSE management system.

Strong time management, organisational and planning skills.

An understanding of ISO 45001 is desirable.

Essential Requirements:

Proof of rights to work in Australia.

Hold a Current Drivers License.

Current National Police Clearance or willing to obtain at own cost (essential).

Ability to complete a comprehensive Pre-Employment Medical, including a drug and alcohol screening with the company’s provider.
