Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a Federal Government Agency to engage multiple Service Designers across various levels. These roles form part of a growing team working on meaningful projects that improve how services are experienced by both staff and the public.
These positions can be located in any capital city for an initial 12-month contract.
About the Positions
Service Designers apply human-centred design approaches to improve how services are delivered — ensuring they’re simple, helpful, respectful and transparent. From research and journey mapping to prototyping and implementation, you’ll help create services that meet user needs and achieve business outcomes.
Each level brings increasing responsibility and leadership scope:
- EL1 – Assistant Director, Service Design: Lead large-scale service design initiatives and cross-agency engagement. Coach and manage teams, influence strategic planning, and drive capability uplift.
- APS6 – Senior Service Designer: Manage and deliver service design projects with some autonomy. Contribute to planning, conduct in-depth research, lead workshops, and mentor junior staff.
- APS5 – Service Designer: Support service design activities under guidance. Assist with research, artefact creation, stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation while building your capability in the discipline.
Duties
- Conduct and support user research, journey mapping, and service blueprinting
- Create future-state service concepts and test prototypes
- Use storytelling and data to influence service improvement
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagements
- Apply human-centred and agile methodologies in a team-based environment
Requirements/Skills
- Understanding of service design, customer experience, or human-centred design methodologies
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Familiarity with digital tools, data analysis and visual storytelling
- Relevant experience in public service, digital transformation or user-focused roles
- Baseline Security Clearance preferred (must have ability to obtain)
