The Shire of Exmouth is seeking a knowledgeable Irrigation Technician to join our Operational and Infrastructure Services team on a permanent, full-time basis.
Reporting to the Coordinator Works within the Engineering team, the Irrigation Technician is accountable for the key functions of the Shire’s irrigation systems across all its assets, including the Shire of Exmouth’s waste water treatment facility and all public land in accordance with operational requirements.
In the role of Irrigation Technician, you will inspect, test, and maintain reticulation systems on a routine basis in public open spaces and streetscapes, to provide optimum supply of water for horticultural assets and diagnose and repair reticulation faults and breakages if required. It will be your responsibility to undertake water sampling across the ovals and treatment plant and provide daily and weekly reports to the Coordinator Works. To ensure minimal downtime to irrigation systems, you will be responsible for maintaining a store of irrigation components, and plant and equipment.
It is a mandatory requirement for this role that you hold a current national “C” class WA driver’s licence. You will have or be willing to gain your immunisations for Hepititis A & B and Tetanus (as DT or dTPA). To successfully fulfil the requirements of this role, you will have a qualification/certificate or relevant demonstrated experience in Irrigation. A qualification/certificate in plumbing, landscaping or similar will be desirable for this role.

What we offer – This position is classified as a Level 6 under the Shire of Exmouth Enterprise Agreement 2017, and comes with the following remuneration benefits;
· Base salary of $73,250 per annum
· Housing – a 1-bedroom dwelling suitable for a single or couple only – OR housing allowance of $15,600 per annum if housing not required
· Up to 21.5% superannuation (includes co-contribution by you)
· Regular RDOs and 5-weeks of annual leave
· Eligibility for long service leave after 7 years of service, uniform allowance, employee assistance program and other wellbeing services.
