Sea Breeze Café is part of The Navy’s Anchorage (TNA), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the welfare of Australian sailors and the broader Navy community. Operating cafés, bars, and retail outlets on Royal Australian Navy bases across Australia, we reinvest surplus funds into welfare and lifestyle initiatives for Navy personnel.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Venue Manager to oversee the operations of Sea Breeze Café in South Australia. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be responsible for the overall success of the café, ensuring high standards of service, food quality, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Day-to-Day Operations

Oversee the daily running of the café, ensuring smooth and efficient service

Implement and maintain best practices for customer service, quality, and cleanliness

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation

Food & Beverage Management

Monitor food preparation and presentation to ensure consistent quality standards

Manage cost of goods sold (COGS), seeking efficiencies and revenue growth opportunities

Stock Control & Ordering

Conduct regular stock audits and manage inventory levels

Oversee supplier deliveries, merchandising, and stock management

Team Leadership & Training

Lead and mentor the café team, fostering a positive and productive work environment

Implement training programs and oversee staff performance and compliance

Manage rostering in line with operational needs and budget requirements

Stakeholder Engagement

Build strong relationships with Royal Australian Navy members and the wider community

Maintain open communication with key stakeholders, addressing concerns and opportunities proactively

Venue Growth & Community Engagement

Drive revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities

Participate in community initiatives to enhance the café’s presence and support local events

Compliance & Asset Management

Ensure all Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) procedures are followed

Conduct asset stocktakes and support the maintenance of the café’s facilities and equipment

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you should have:

Proven experience in venue management or a similar leadership role

Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to foster a positive team culture

Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset

Knowledge of food safety regulations and inventory management

Experience in staff training, development, and rostering

Food Safety Supervisor Certificate and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification

Hands-on coffee-making experience is essential

A valid driver’s license

Police Check Required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
