Our client is seeking a Electrical Engineer to join the Projects team based in Perth on a Monday – Friday basis. In this role, the Electrical Engineer is responsible for assisting estimating and project teams with all matters related to electrical services and will be required to help with the design management, technical compliance, quality, commissioning, and financial aspects of electrical services across all projects.

Responsibilities:

• Review and understand the scope of work relating to all electrical services and highlight any potentially ambiguous items or items that may carry risk or require clarification.
• Draft Discipline Scope of Work for electrical services with the estimating/contracts team to ensure the relevant requirements have been identified and detailed in the tender packages.
• Take a leadership role in the electrical services aspects of the tender design process and manage the interfaces between electrical services and other engineering disciplines.
• Liaise with electrical services subcontractors, answer and generate technical queries for clients. Coordinate questions and answers between subcontractors and clients and ensure alignment of all electrical services issues before the closing of the tender.
• Review, compare and normalise bids from electrical services subcontractors and manage the electrical services aspect of submissions to ensure the highest level of compliance.
• Develop and document technical clarifications as they pertain to electrical services.
• Assist in estimating the cost of residual non-compliance of electrical services.
• Participate in pre-submission tender reviews related to electrical services.
• Assist the QA Manager and Estimating team in responding to the Quality aspect of tender submissions.

Post-Award of Contracts

• Assist project teams with managing electrical services subcontractors concerning all technical and quality-related matters.
• Develop and submit project engineering deliverables as identified within the project contract.
• Review electrical services design drawings to ensure compliance with contract documents and regulations.
• Assist with the development of project time schedules as they relate to electrical services.
• Assist project teams with developing project quality documentation, including inspection test plans, field inspection checklists, and factory acceptance testing, and assist in MDR compilation, focusing on the electrical services aspects.
• Participate in project risk assessment and planning processes to ensure risks to project quality are identified and addressed.
• Assist with the preparation of work method statements on projects as they relate to electrical services.
• Assist with the compilation and administration of project variations as they relate to electrical services.
• Visit work sites and off-site manufacturing facilities as required to monitor compliance, identify non-compliance, assist project teams in correcting non-compliance, and close out relevant documentation.

Commissioning

• Assist in the drafting of project commissioning documentation and the commissioning matrix.
• Understand the project scope of work, client requirements, and commissioning plan, and ensure personnel understand and comply with all commissioning procedures.
• Ensuring all electrical regulatory bodies, work permits and approvals, project requirements, government, safety, health and environmental procedures and standards are followed by all commissioning personnel.
• Assist project teams in performing commissioning activities.
• Measure and manage electrical commissioning progress against the baseline schedule.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on HV/LV systems.
• Strong knowledge of electrical system design, commissioning, and fault analysis.
• Experience in managing projects and working with multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with clients and stakeholders.
• Proficient in engineering software and tools
• Experience in underground projects is a plus
• Knowledge of electrical safety standards and codes is essential
• Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
• Proficient in MS Packages
