About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Principal Solutions Engineer to join our team and take the leading role in defining how Lookout integrates into our customers’ broader ecosystems. You will be responsible for establishing the technical processes, standards, and best practices that ensure integrations are secure, scalable, and maintainable over time.

Partnering closely with our Pre-Sales Engineer and Solutions Team, you will provide governance and oversight of integrations and the backlog across enterprise platforms such as Payroll, HRIS, and Finance systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead technical design of solutions, translating business requirements into scalable, well-architected enterprise integrations, including solid documentation.

Collaborate cross-functionally to estimate level of effort and develop implementation timelines for integration and automation projects.

Build and manage a technical backlog, ensuring alignment with customer goals, timelines, and technical feasibility. Visible to everyone.

Oversee the testing process (unit, integration, and UAT) and own release management and task monitoring, ensuring smooth and timely deployments.

Design and execute data and system integrations across Payroll, HRIS, and Finance platforms (e.g., Workday, ADP, SAP, Netsuite) that are fit-for-purpose and secure.

Build and maintain workflows using Lookout’s preferred automation platforms Workato and Retool.

Troubleshoot integration issues and provide advanced technical support during pre-and post-sale activities.

Serve as a subject matter expert on RESTful APIs, authentication methods (OAuth, SAML, etc.), and best practices for scalable and secure integrations.

Act as a trusted advisor to both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that technical solutions align with business objectives.

About You

Your Skills, Experience and Qualifications

7+ years of experience in an Enterprise Architect, Solutions Engineer, Integration Engineer, or similar technical role.

Proven expertise in designing and implementing integrations between SaaS systems, especially within Payroll, HRIS, and Finance ecosystems.

Hands-on experience with APIs, including RESTful web services and API management platforms.

Proficiency in Workato or comparable automation tools (e.g., Zapier, Mulesoft, Tray.io, or AWS Lambda).

Proven Experience in growing teams and managing technical backlogs, delivery timelines, and release cycles.

Strong understanding of enterprise systems architecture, data flow, and security (e.g. SOC2).

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Proven experience with at least one scripting language (e.g., Ruby, JavaScript, Python)

Proven experience with SQL
