This is your opportunity to contribute to life-changing experiences for young people while building and strengthening our safety-first culture.
Reporting to the People, Volunteer and Culture Manager, you'll be our go-to safety expert supporting the wellbeing of our staff and volunteers across all our operations, from our Richmond warehouse to our remote Yankaninna Station in the Northern Flinders Ranges. Whether it’s supporting the safety of our teams on the ground, refining our safety systems, or educating staff and volunteers, you’ll be a critical part of our mission to change lives through adventure therapy.
What We Offer:
Salary packaging options (access up to $15,900 tax-free annually)
Flexible work arrangements
Unique opportunity to visit and work from our Yankaninna Station in the Northern Flinders Ranges from time to time
A team environment where purpose, passion, and people come first
Professional development aligned with your interests and goals
What You’ll Be Doing:
Health: Drive wellbeing initiatives and promote early intervention and injury management for all staff and volunteers
Safety: Champion a proactive safety culture across our Adelaide office, warehouse, and remote operations. Lead risk assessments, incident investigations, and WHS audits

What You Bring:
Certificate IV or higher in Work Health and Safety
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a WHS role, ideally in a high-risk, outdoor, or remote environment
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across a diverse workforce
Strong eye for detail and a practical approach to identifying and solving safety issues
Confidence using WHS systems and Microsoft Office tools
Willingness to travel to remote SA (including overnight stays) at least once a year
A love of the outdoors
About Operation Flinders:
Operation Flinders Foundation exists to transform the lives of young people who are struggling with complex challenges. We work with teenagers facing disconnection, disadvantage, and disengagement from school, family, and community, offering them an opportunity to step into the rugged Flinders Ranges, away from their usual environment, and rediscover their potential.
Our eight-day outback adventure is more than a trek: it’s an experience designed to build resilience, purpose, and connection. Through shared challenges like hiking over tough terrain, navigating with maps, and camping under the stars, young people learn to face adversity with courage, work as a team, and reflect on their choices.
We believe every young person deserves the chance to build a better future. That’s why we also invest in long-term support through mentoring, training, and engagement programs that extend well beyond the bush.
Operation Flinders Foundation has been doing this important work for nearly 35 years, thanks to the dedication of our staff, volunteers, partners, and supporters who believe, like we do, in the power of the outback to change lives.
