We are on the search for THREE Principal Contract Specialist's to come on board!

This is an exciting time at Moreton Bay in the procurement space, as we are relatively early in our move to a strategic contracting model and therefore present a timely opportunity for you to bring your ideas to help us shape the future direction of Council procurement and contract management processes.

Reporting through to the Commercial and Contract Lead, we will look to you to partner with key stakeholders to develop and implement contract management strategies, plans and processes to secure best value, mitigate risks and optimise project outcomes for Council and the community. You'll also:

  • Lead the management of corporate contracts and suppliers, maintaining relationships and evaluating works and services for compliance, performance and adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Review specifications, contracts, contract management frameworks, policies, guidelines for continuous improvement in delivering best practice outcomes.
  • Support the organisation to analyse, address and resolve unsatisfactory supplier performance and contractual disputes across Council.
  • Undertake reporting and analysis to evaluate compliance, expenditure, savings opportunities and benefits realisation - and develop and implement initiatives to drive value and efficiencies.
  • Negotiate on behalf of Council to resolve disputes with suppliers regarding standard contract terms and conditions.
  • Prepare internal audit plans for contract management practices throughout Council, and subsequently coordinate and undertake those audits and register of non-conformance and improvement opportunities

About you

This is a great opportunity for an experienced commercial procurement professional to join and help us demonstrate the value in effective contract management to our diverse organisation here at Australia's 3rd largest Local Government.

Bringing extensive experience developing and implementing category plans, contract management and supplier performance management, will quickly help you hit the ground running from a technical standpoint.

Your demonstrated ability to engage effectively will complement your research and analytical skills to really understand stakeholder needs, building quality working relationships founded in trust to achieve sustained results.

As a natural communicator, you will be confident and adaptable to a range of professional settings, with a proven ability to influence, negotiate and elicit support as required to achieve balanced and sustainable outcomes for Council.

Whilst we are a growing team, we are still relatively small in size so are seeking people who are happy to roll up their sleeves and pitch in to get things done when needed.

Local Government experience is great but not essential.
